Split Peas & Potato Curry Recipe










Total Time    : 35 Minutes.
Prep Time    : 10 Minutes.
Cook Time   : 25 Minutes.

 Ingredients:

  • 1- Cup Green Split Peas(boiled).
  • 2-3 - Potatoes (boiled).
  • 1 - Medium Onion, finely chopped.
  • 1 tbsp - Crushed Garlic
  • 1 tbsp - Grated fresh Ginger.
  • 1 tbsp - Red chilli.
  • 1 tbsp - Turmeric Powder.
  • 100 gm - Tomatoes.
  • 1 - Cup frozen pea.
  • 1/3 - Cup finely chopped fresh coriander leaves.
  • 1 - Cup of water ( According to consistency )
  • 1 tbsp - Oil.
  • Salt to taste.

Soak Split Pea (2 Hour)


                             
Boil Split Pea in Pressure Cooker


  • To start cooking split pea in the pressure cooker, first thoroughly drain the split peas completely and add the soaked washed split pea in to the pressure cooker, next add enough water so there is at least 2 inches of water above the split peas. 
  • Put the pressure cooker on medium high heat and cook until you hear 2 whistles, after 2 whistles turn the heat off. 
  • Once this is done wait for the pressure to release completely before opening the cooker, wait for 5 Minute. Once you open the cooker, gently press the split peas with the back of a spoon. They should be soft and disintegrate easily. 
  • Pour the boiled split pea over a colander. 
  • Cut the boiled Potato in small cubes. 

                                

                                

                                

                                


  • Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat, add onion, garlic, ginger, stirring for 3 to 5 minutes or until onion become softened. Add tomato, turmeric powder, stir for 2 minute, add boiled split pea mixture, add 1/2 cup cold water to pan, bring to the boil 5 minute and add boiled potato and frozen pea, stir to combine, cook for 10-11 minutes until peas are tender or add water according to consistency. Gently press the green pea with the back of a spoon. if they are tender, it means they are ready.
