Total Time:40 Minutes
Ingredients:
- 2 Cup- Black chana(chickpea)-soaked overnight for 8-9 Hour
- 1 Cup-Wash ,fresh fenugreek leaves,chopped
- 1 tbs- Cumin seeds
- 1 tbs- Turmeric powder
- 1 tbs-Red chilli powder
- 1 tb- Ginger,crushed
- 1 tbs-Garlic cloves crushed
- 1-Medium Tomato,chopped
- Salt to taste
- 4-5- Cup of water
- 1/2 Cup-Fresh green coriander chopped
Direction: How To Cook .
- Rinse black chana(chickpea) and then add enough water and soak for at least 8 hour or overnight.
- After the soaking time,it gets large in size.
- Now discard the soaking water,take black chana to pressure cooker,add new water 4-5 cups,cover with the lid,turn the heat on high flame and pressure cook it until you hear 3-4 whistles ,and then reduce the flame and pressure cook it for another 5 minutes till you get 5 whistle.once its done, switch off the flame,keep it aside to cool.Its approximate time 30 minutes.
- Let the pressure go down by itself then open the lid,black chana should be cooked.if you press it between thumb and finger it should mash easily(At this point ,separate black chana and the water ,do not throw away the water,keep it a side,we will use later.)
- Now heat the oil in a pan or kadai,add cumin seeds,let them sizzle a bit and then add onion,and fry till the onion become light brown and then add ginger,garlic,tomato chopped and fry till they turn soft and then add red chilli powder,turmeric powder,garam masala and mix well and then add green fenugreek chopped and mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Add mashed one small cup of boiled black chana its helps gravy to thicken a bit and help you achieve that perfect consistency after that add rest of boiled black chana and now take the pressure cooker water ,we had reserved. and cook for 10 minutes and then switch off the flame.
- Sprinkle with chopped green coriander and serve warm with roti/ rice/naan.
